Another popular pastime is taking to the desert in a four-wheel drive and enjoying the bumpy ride. Trips out of the city do allow for a more rounded experience of the emirate. A trip to the tranquil Jebel Ali Beach can easily be done in a day, while trips to the historical town of Hatta, located in the spectacular Hajar Mountains may require more time due to the fact there is simply too much to see in a single day. For a sporting diversion, camel racing is very popular and events usually run between October and April.


Dubai has some fine beaches which run along Jumeirah Road. There are trendy beaches with bars and other facilities. The Burj Al Arab is the most iconic hotel shaped like a billowing sail and is currently the tallest hotel in the world. Moreover, Dubai has an excellent choice of bars and nightclubs. Most bars that can serve alcohol are only in hotels, however there are a few exceptions. By law, all clubs must close by 3am. You must be at least 21 to drink alcohol and 25 to enter a nightclub.


As far as eating out is concerned, Dubai as many restaurants of quality and character. There are many trendy, business and budget restaurants. Chinese, Indian or European, Dubai has them all.


Thus, Dubai is a destination with much to offer as it evolves into a major global tourist powerhouse, drawing visitors from all over the world, be it primarily for shopping or other leisurely pursuits. It is rapidly growing with new development projects everywhere you go. The city blends the old with the new to give a dynamic atmosphere. It is therefore, a place worthwhile visiting if looking for a truly unique holiday experience.
